Greetings to all as we near Golden Week in Japan.
The annual Kawashima Textile School (KTS) "Feltmaking Wool Magic"
intensive with be held May 1-5 in Ichihara, Kyoto.
An in depth practical workshop covering a broad range from traditional
nomadic carpets to contemporary hat-making through slide talks and
exercises geared for beginners-intermediates and teachers. We will have a
short lecture each day, followed by a demonstration exercise and direct
application of previous day's study. On the final day we will learn how to
make equipment essential for feltmaking including hat forms and woven
mats. A marvelous experience and unforgettable Golden Week. The school
offers dormitory living and three meals a day in the village nestled in
the northern mountains for Kyoto and in proximity to Kurama Hot Springs as
well.
Any persons wishing more information can contact the office of KTS directly or email me.
